I was at Lockport yesterday (Thursday) evening near the road by the spillway. The ice there was over two feet thick but the current was fast. You could not feel the bottom with your jig. I won't be going back there to Lockport until next winter as I don't trust that ice. Like I've been told before and experienced it. River Ice can vanish pretty quickly. Be very cautious when venturing onto the river this time of year. With the warm weather you never know what you're going to get. Fat does float but I don't want to get wet.
