mt fishing right now

i am from Idaho and i am visiting MT this weekend and am wondering if there is any safe ice on beavertail pond and if there is any good fishing in the rivers. any advice will be appreciated.

I'm not sure about beaverail in particular but all of the ice in NW Montana i have been on is in great shape.  As far as rivers go checkout troutfitters website for SW Montana Reports and the missoulian angler or grizzly hackle websites for info on the Bit, blackfoot or rockcreek.  These guys keep pretty up to date reports this time of year.

I was out on Beavertail last sunday and the ice was real thin ~1-2" on the east side...got progressivly thicker toward the west ~6-8" but it probably won't last long.  I'd wear a lifejacket if you venture out there...fishing is always slow, but there are some lunker trout.
