Had a guy do that next to me a few years ago with a pickeral. He didn't even know he was bleeding and smeared it all over his face. His buddys and us were laughing and just stood there grinning. Until he finally felt the pain.

What's that saying again?....oh ya.
Experience is a cruel teacher....you always get the test before the lesson.
Nice pike tho

Nice fish! I'm not certain whether drinking had anything to do with it though! I just think it goes with the territory when we fish for these toothy fish! Nice switch to steel! Happy New Year!
-
Hey I'll just stick my fingers in a fish that has hundreds of sharp teeth.... Uhhhh now what do I do....I'm never gonna do that again. ;D ;D ;D

Haha just to clarify eyecatcher00 is the one with the hook stuck in his finger, I was the one with the cut hand.
It was a chilly morning and we were fishign for eyes off a point on one of our favorite lakes, eyes were a bit slower so we set up a few flags to help pass the time. It wasent long before eyecatchers flag went off and it was game on, knowing the drill I ran to the truck to grab the camera, pliers, tape measure and gaff while kelly fought with the fish.
Upon my return kelly had 1 of 2 of the trebkle hooks out of the fish and he was working on the other, just as I walked up the fish shook free of his hand and dropped back down the hole, hooking kellys finger with the free'd treble hook in the process. The fish had kelly is a terrible position, fighting to get back under the ice and pulling on him by the hook in his finger(lol). I ran up to him and quickly seen an oppertunity to grab the fishes mouth(only thing I could grab as kellys couldnt mve from the hole). I grabbed it by the lower jaw and used the pliers to cut kelly free from the fish, removed the hook from the fish and handed it over to kelly for a quick picture. It was a beauty fish probably 40+ inches and weighed in at 19 pounds. The picture I posted was the aftermath of catching that fish, it lacerated the whole top of my hand and kelly had to fish with a really sore finger the rest of the way. Good times.
The fish:

It puts a great meaning to "hooked on fishing!"

Man oh man Layne & eyecatcher00, you guys really got messed up with that big old pike. :o
I had an experience similar to eyecatcher00 a few years ago. I had caught a pike was in the process of lifting it from the hole when it thrashed it's head and sunk one of the trebles into the side of my hand past the barb. I barely felt it go in, but once the fish began to thrash, I felt it than, thankfully it was only a 3 lb fish and not the big one you guys had. I let the fish go quickly and called for my buddy to pull the hook, man that sure smarts to pull a large hook out, and it's amazing how far skin will stretch before the hook pops out. :P
I find fishing will barbless hooks not so bad after that ordeal, at least you can remove them easier. :woot:

Hopefully that guy doesn't take up gator hunting next! Epic stupid move!
-
Might be a good time to review How to remove a hook from a finger (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfSGAso5vpI).
You don't have to drive home with a hook in you.
The video shows it pretty well. What he doesn't explain is that he is pushing down on the eye/shank to make a space in the hole (the one in the finger) for the barb to come through.
-
BAHAHHAA
-
I find it really funny that the guy in the video has pliers on him and he still puts his fingers in the mouth of the pike.......lol
-
hahaha where in maine are ya fishin??
-
Just wait till you have a 5/0 treble buried in your leg and a 10 pound pike on the other 5/0 hook on the lure....And no hook cutters.....
-
At this point I would take a wound like that for a fish that size. Wounds heal that fish memory is forever.
-
I had a hammer handle flop upward off the ice and grab my thumb, when I got it to release my thumb looked like 100 razor blades tore through it. The ice was covered in blood that day. The next trip, I had one of those things to pry their mouth open. There is no part of that fish's mouth that isn't covered in tiny teeth.
-
looks like a whole hell of a lot of fun?!? :roflmao:
-
That`s why you never put your hand in a pikes mouth. Bad language, man. Not cool.
