hello all.
the last 2 years ive been ice fishing more and more, and I am going crazy right now because its going to be 45 degrees next week. but anyways, I love fishing for crappies through the ice. not only crappie, but sun fish and northern pike as well, as the lake I only fish is about 100 yards away from my cabin, and I can usually always find fish. with all the new 'UV' jigs and stuff, I feel like I can never keep my jigs well lit when its dark out. most of the time I give up on night fishing just because I cant keep the jigs lit.
so does anyone have any good advice for me. im not the most familiar with which brand lights work with jigs, weather its just a normal glow in the dark jig or if it is a 'UV' jig.

well..i fish at night a lot...for walleye...glow is great..but not necessary...try big shiners under a slip bobber...then..jig with your glow jigs for crappie..it may be a pain to keep glowin lures..but..that is one of the obstacles when being a night fisherman...I started at night because that was when I could get out...took awhile to learn..experiment with something new each trip. @)

I've never seen those Branters jigs before but man I am 100% sure those tube jigs would absolutely smash some crappie where I live. Will be ordering in the future. Thanks for the info.

see if you can find a "surefire" 3 watt cree led ultra violet flash light ... it is what I use I bought two off ebay one broke right out of the package I think it was the light module I can get for like 5 bucks but still be warned... the other one is still going strong to this day... they use cr123 batteries you can get at the local drug store... I got rechargeable one so they cost more... but to charge a jig it work awesome...that and lures when fishing for steel and salmon walleye etc...

Also check into Bartness Industries Neon lights jigs. I use them all the time. Yes you have to recharge with a light a lot.

i use northland forage minnows (glow). charge with my head light. dead sticks and minnows.

I have allows enjoyed jigging for crappies during the magic hour.
And in the last few years have gone to lighter glow jigs
I had been using a flashlight to charge my jigs,led type.
I went to a led head lamp for a hands free approach .
last week I picked up a Glocup uv lights in a cup.
Now I just dip the little ratso or neon light in there for a few seconds and down the hole it goes.
the illumination of my tiny jig is amazingly strong.
and I am catching fish ,cant say more but they are hitting my plastics.

I have a flash from a camera that takes 4 AA batteries, the downside is you have to be sure to look away and close your eyes as the flash is so bright.
