Looking for ice report
« on: Feb 24, 2021, 08:16 AM »
Thinking about driving up to either Waramaug or Highland on Friday, can anyone help out with an ice report. Going to be driving an hour to get there and would hate to just waste my time if ice is shot

Not sure how safe the ice will be by the end of the week. Some warm temperatures coming. Including today.

Be careful if you’re out there, folks.

was out yesterday on lake in east central ct. had 6 plus inches of ice but the top was melting fast with 1 to 2 inches of standing water. edges were fine. ice was sloppy. good water proof boots a necessity

I was out in Goshen on West Side Pond today- had 5 inches of white ice and 5 of clear ice. It didn't get much above freezing there today.

I’m just curious...How did you make out in West side today?  I fished it for the first time last season.  We made the trip up there as the ice in SE CT was none.  I liked the pond but the fishing was average the day we went.  I’m just curious how you made out....Thanks!

It was slow, a few small pickerel, a perch, a rainbow. Another guy had about the same luck.

West Side pond has a boat launch.
I park and walk right out.

The launch ramp has a big snow berm blocking it, so need to park in the road, but easy walk out. Middle of the pond was slushy under the snow,  I would stay away from that part myself
