Ive seen commercial guys pull truckloads out of there in a day.
I dont think a bucket or 2 hurt them.
Give it a little longer they'll be in the bay.

I'm a new registered member, so be easy on me!! ;D

I just got back home from fishing St. Aubin's bay.  Between my buddy and I, we caught about a bucket of whites.  About 1/3 of them were decent sized, the rest were average to small.   There was a large school of whites cruising around.  You had to be patient and wait for them to show up.  Then the action was fast and furious for maybe 10 minutes and then they were gone again. Also caught a boat load of small yellows.

What colors do you all generally use? Ive had best luck with a lindy (rattling flyer?) In blue, red and silver/white.. Been using it for the past few years and the paint is damn near chewed off, so looking to pick some other ones up and figured I'd try a few that were recommended.. Thanks

I have had my best luck with blues, pinks and greens. That said, I don't think white perch are very discriminate

People really troll an ice fishing, forum?? Id be surprised.. A bucket between two people isnt exactly lights out when it comes to whites.. It seems legit.. I'll probably check a few spots out Friday or sat..

People do in fact troll ice forums. Though as you said 1 bucket between 2 people seems not like they are saying the fishing was on fire. But in the past there have been trolls on here often intentionally causing ruckus and stirring the pot as trolls do.

I went out this afternoon after work, got on at rec park went over by the cam and tried my usual spots I’ve marked with Navionics, saw all the holes people had drilled over the weekend.
First spot right on top of hump 13’ I tried dropping chartreuse jig head with live minnows and nothing but dink yellows, tolerated that for about 1/2 hour and then moved to another spot a little deeper 24’ and the yellows got slightly bigger and no whites to be found but considering not much time to spend searching and hole hopping and not another soul out there I supposed they could be there but who knows since no one really is mentioning it on here if they are in the bay.

Fished it this morning caught only one white. Checked every where from the can to the island back to the point. If there in there it’s a small school Maby by this week end they will start coming in

I'm not a troll (whatever that is).  I also post on the Lake Champlain United site as Greenhorn.  Like some of you said, the fishing was not what I consider hot, but there was a large school cruising around the bay and It feels like it could be the beginning of the chaos.  There was a group of three older gentlemen that cussed a lot fishing near us that also got into some whites  So, believe me or not, I will be up there this Sunday.  Whatever you decide, best of luck to you and be safe on the ice.

Light liner, we were midway between Hathaway point and the green can.

I agree with NH Hardwaters, the whites are not too picky (usually).  Having said that, my favorite lure is a PK minnow with a blade.  I use a perch colored one and a gold one most of the time.  We just used spikes as I don't know where to buy bait in the area since Bayside has closed up.

Lightliner, hfbckhunter21 is not a troll. I discovered after my reply to his post today that he is my friend and coworker. He is an honest fisherman.  so please welcome him, he is a great addition to "the shanty".

No worries, I just didnt want him to get a "bad taste" right out of the gate on his first post as a member here. He is a really great guy.
...ON THE OTHER HAND  ... Now I know what to call him when we are out fishing  ;D

Crayfish2, do you fish the DYP?  I know Keithm87 does.  I'm looking forward to getting back on the boat, but before then, I will be fishing with NH Hardwater trying to hit the run of whites (even if he pegs me with a new knick name  ;D).  It is the primo ice fishing trip of the winter (when they are running).

Tell us what your day was like spb802.  It sounds like it was pretty lonely out there.

Hey Hfbckhntr21, I haven't fished the DYP yet.  May give it a try this year, but my son (Perchbait) and I are usually doing our own thing that time of year.  So many fish, so little time!
