SINGLES!!!! Bass tend inhale the bait and you can kiss your treble goodbye. I catch some while pike fishing and I lose almost every hook to them.

Treble hook...singles can kill fish. I've never gut hooked a bass using  a sharp treble.

It all depends what you want to do with your catch. If you plan on eating them then maybe trebles are a better bet but trebles are bulky and can be seen.
If you plan on releasing the fish then definately use single hooks. If your worried about misses, then use a good Gamagatsu circle hook.
I use strictly single hooks................a nd I would recomend them to you as well.

Circle hooks are the way to go I have noticed more hook sets and fewer lost fish ever since I started using these. Trebles are usually a pain if gut hooked and barbless I lost too many fish. :'(

Depends on how you rig it and the size of bait, and how aggressive the fish are.

With a smaller bait for more nonaggressive bass (which is generally the case) I like to use circle hooks.
if anybody from michigan will help me out with the lakes and stuff up here I'd really appreciate it since I'm new to the area.

99% of the time I use trebles.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an  well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, A fishing pole in one hand, beer in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming \"WOO HOO, what a ride!

Circle hooks are the best easy to set and hold the fish. Trebles are ok but sometimes are a bear to get out especially if the bass deepthroats the bait. I use the red circle hooks adds a little color as well

As an avid salt water catch and release fisherman who has been using circle hooks for years on large-mouthed fish species, I'd have to recommend the use of circle hooks for icing bass.  Bass tend to inhale live bait and the consequence with a treble is often a fish that is hooked deep in the gullet or around the gills.  From my experience, circle hooks have an equal hooking percentage compared to trebles on tipups..therefore, you can reap the benefits of the hookup percentage of a treble with far less chance of gut hooking a fish that may be a candidate for release.

I've gone so far as to using 5/0 red cirlce hooks for pike fishing and my % has been 100% this year on bass and pike. They seem to work very well and increases the chances of fish survival once released.

Do you know how to properly set the hook with a circle hook? If you do, I have no idea why you would be saying that.

I personally use trebles and monitor my tipups very closely.

If all you want to do is get the fish nothing is better then trebles. Not even close. If you want the fish to live then circle hooks are great.

Check local laws first
In New Hampshire only single point hooks are allowed for bait

This is my first ice season using circle hooks, thanks to some previous posts here.  I haven't gotten to bass fish yet, so I have no opinion.  I've had great succes with circles on cats and smallies during open water season.  I'm attatched to trebles on tip-up just as a matter of habit.  I see no reason why circles won't work on tip-ups.
