« on: Aug 29, 2006, 03:34 PM »
well i plan on spending some cash for this upcoming season, and i plan on getting some of the standard jack traps.. but dont know if i should get the 26" standard or the 31" standard.. u usually fish for bass and broodstock salmon with the ocasionall pike trip tossed in.. whic would i be better off with? or dose it even matter?

The only difference (I think) is the height of the trap. I think if you normally fish on ice with lots of snow on top, you may want to go with the 31" trap because it stands 10" taller than the 26" with the flag up.  Would make it easier to see.  Other than that, they are pretty much the same.  They really make a beautiful trap that will last for years.

I'd go with the 31" ,you may need the extra height on those heavy snow days. I also believe the reels are bigger. I love mine

it depends on the state you fish, average thickness of ice and snow cover, plan any trips north where ice can be 3 ft thick? also concider any transportation issues you may have. 3'' spool or 4'' ? choose the size that fits your most intended useages.
