south bend tip-up?

i just bought a South Bend tip-up at Wal-Mart for $6.50 and im wondering if these are any good?

this tip-up was a waste. took a long time and some modifacations to get it working. it is now just a back up or might give it to a friend if they buy bait for the trip. HT thermal tip-ups are way better, i love mine. i wouldnt take a southbend tip-up anymore if someone gave it to me, they are just too much hassle if fishing deeper water (20+ft.) but shallow water for burbot it works good but thats about it.

Don't ask why but I found it hysterical that you answered your own ? almost a year later, on another note South bend makes beaver dam style tip ups that are good, I own 2 of them never had any problems.

i have about ten of the beaver dam type south bends they are very good traps, the only thing that's have used thats better are my nor easters.

First off i really enjoy the forum. I have used some like those but did'nt like the legs being in the way when i chipped the hole in the morning. I lost quite a few legs. I would spend the extra six bucks on Polars.
