11 mile St Patty's day
« on: Mar 18, 2007, 05:52 PM »
Finally my fishing partner and I have killed the Skunk that is 11 mile. We started in 20 feet of water at witchers and by noon moved shallow, by the boat dock. The indian caught a nice 18 inch bow and missed a 5lb cut. The cut has a new jig and 4 feet of 6lb test the showthe rest. He made the hook set but had to much drag and to much arm. I caught a nice big salmon and two pike and missed my share of other trout and one monster fresh water wolf. The Ice at the mile is getting bad fast, this was our last time up there for ice this year, can't wait for next season. Ice thickness is 20 inches but the shore is thin and melts in the sun the ice on top is getting black and fragile. Drilled 20 inches in the time it takes 6 inches. Anyone going out now take a life vest and rope and do not fish alone.

Nice report Katahdinboy,  Sounds like you guys did better than most.  A couple friends went up on the 18th also and only caught 3 pike.  Thanks for the tips on the ice conditions.
