I coat the blades with Vaseline and leave them lying on their side in my gear room for my hand augers. For my power auger I detach the motor from the auger and blade and store the motor in my crawlspace under the cabin on blocks so it rests in the upright position but with nothing pressing on the drive. The auger and blade I store the same way as my hand augers in my gear room.
Why not standing upright in the ice?? Hard on blades? Just curious.
It will twist and tweak the flights as well as cause a bend in the shaft. Jay
Should the fuel be drained or run out? what about using marine stable when storing?
Isn't it a little early for all these threads about storing our augers?
thanks for the replies just was wondering if it was bad to stand them with the cover on made a stand tonight so no weight is on is on the auger and close to the heater for ice removal
