I had the same question, but was scared to ask lol. I can say that Sunday we were on about 8 inches of half white, half black ice. Praying it survived, I have plans to go out Thursday

I like the prospects for Thursday also. But work is going to get in the way for me.

The weekend forecast with rain coupled w/ possible record highs looks really bad.

Hope you get out before that.

What happened to the "acu"weather long range forecast?

"In January the cold will really be digging in its heels...."

I'm guessing it was too long range.

Well geez, do not blame them, they did not say which year. Maybe they meant next January.
I plan to live forever. So far so good!

This weather is bizarre, past couple years have been horrible for ice. Last two years we had solid cold in December/January followed up by Mild temps and lots of rain mid February thru March. The 10 day forecast looks bad for ice making for sure but hopefully that changes quick and we get a chance at safe ice by February. Wow that’s depressing lol! I’ll be on the Farmington till then. 😁

I drove up to Norfolk yesterday and checked some ice.....snow covered, all white and maybe 4-5". Took a few steps out and the whole cove made one helluva noise so I decided I wouldn't try my luck and went on down the road....

Out on Winchester this morning (1/8) and there was 4" white ice layer on top and 4" black ice below that.  Pretty quiet ...
