thank you for posting ducky. if we could get everyone on iceshanty to post one picture, it would be great. I started  this thread in the hope that we could see who we are talking to. come on every body post at least one picture of yourself.

Thanks, guys. I really don't want to break forum rules, so I am not selling them, nor am I interested in advertising them here for sale, either. I merely wanted to do a little show and tell because knives kind of follow suit with hunting and fishing, and thought it would be cool to show them off in general chat. Mods, please don't kill me! However, if anyone is curious and wants more info, please feel free to give me an email, and I'll talk your ear off about 'em. I used to make them full-time for a living, but my health and my bills got the best of me, and I had to take a full-time REAL job.   :'(

This is the reason I don't take orders anymore. Typically, I just do fabricating and artistic stuff now - stuff that I want to do, not because I have to to bring home the bacon. I will be making myself a deer knife soon, and perhaps a few brothers and sisters for it.  ;)

Speaking of knives, here is a picture of one that I own and the story behind it:

Our previous house was a New England farm house built around 1850.  We did extensive renovations to it that involved tearing out several walls.  The walls were constructed using "balloon framing" construction and used horse-hair plaster.  Balloon framing uses continuous long wall studs from the foundation to the roof with the intermediate floors tied together by floor joices.  The old houses did not have wall insulation so anything stored in an upstairs unfinished room ran the risk of falling into the open void between the walls.  I found this knife where it had fallen from an upstairs storage area sometime in the past.  Also found in the same wall was a teacher's geography book dated 1850.  The knife was rusty in places and pristine in others.  After a century and a half the edge was still very very sharp.  The handle was home made and the blade did not feature a blood flute but had both edges at the tip sharpened.  The interesting thing about the find is the fact that in the back yard were the remains of the Christopher Roby sword factory which produced swords, and other edged tools from 1820 to 1867.  The blade bears no markings so if it were a C. Roby produced knife, it would have been a worker-produced item for personal use.  I love old stuff and history.  I thought some of you would enjoy the story.
