Anyone else sprout a beard for the hardwater season? I started mine Sept. 1st with the opener of bear season and I'm not shaving until the end of March or the last day of ice fishing, whichever comes later. Lets see some pics! I'll post mine tomorrow.
-
I started one in sept and by the end of october i had to shave it off was getting way to itchy for me lol ;D
-
Gotta keep it clean and conditioned! ;D My girlfriend is getting mad at me, she's tired of having me look 40!
-
Me and a bunch of college buddies started ours in august for goose opener. No shaving or haircuts until after xmas break in january. Needless to say we are one ugly arse bunch of guys ;D
-
i grew a beard for no shave november, but i'm getting tired of the itching and shampooing my face.
plus it makes my windproof balaclava uncomfortable to wear.
-
I started one in Oct. Because of work I have to keep it trimmed. I have a bunch of grey showing up, starting to show my age! Hope to have a pic as soon as I'm on the ice!
-
I've had a mustache since 1981 and a full beard for the last 5 years. The wife is always after me to dye it because it's mostly gray.
-
don't need a ski mask when you got a beard. best part about having a beard is no wind burn
-
I keep the beard year round and don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. Best part is the girlfriend likes it so I may never get rid of it :P
-
Used to start growing one at the beginning of bear season, and cut it off in spring. Then for about 6 or 7 years, I wore it year round. Shaved it off about 9 years ago, and have not grown one since.
-
goin on 13 months without shaving!! cant icefish without my beard ;)
-
I have not shaved off my beard since 1996, it scared the kids ;D
I keep it tight in the warm weather and bush it up for the winter
A beard is nature's balaclava ;D

We started growing beards for the bow season. When you got your deer, you shaved, everyone would know you had scored. I liked the beard and kept it. I years later took a position at work that required to be clean shaven. When I retired I grew it back, it had a lot of white in it? My wife said she didn't marry Santa Claus and it made me ten years older. I trimmed it to a goatee, which she liked. My ice beard from years ago is to the left.
-
my wife gets to see my neked face in june for our anniversary thats it
-
My esteemed colleagues,
It would seen to me..the question should be...why would anyone want to shave?
I have not shaved in 13 years...and I never will!
Cheers,
Ice Beard
-
I wear mine year round. ;D

i always have a beard..
-
i started growing a bear just for hardwater season about 6 years ago, now it's stays all year.
-
Had a mustache since I was 20 and had a beard since I was 30. So 29 Years now. I would shave them both if I could look only 40. The biggest thing is my upper lip is so white it would scare people.
-
I've had my flavor saver for 25 years or better.
-
Not a beard grower, but could have a nice one in about a week.My younger brother could grow a full beard in the 6th grade, hairiest devil I've ever seen,he even has hair on his knee caps :woot:
-
Yup started mine Nov 1'st every year and shave it off in March.
smitty

have to agree...i have never dated a man without atleast a goatee....something about a man with a beard ;)
-
Last year I grew mine from Sept till late Feb. I only got to start in November this year, can't wait for it to grow back full.
-
I can't grow facial hair if my life depended on it. I did however start growing my hair out august 1st for the hardwater season. I always get a buzz cut come spring and rock long hair in the winter. I might let it go this spring until it gets long enough to donate to locks of love.

Hey now, some of us look damn good at 40 ;D
Haven't started mine yet, probably in the next couple of weeks. Only takes about 2 weeks for us with Bigfoot blood to go full Jeremiah Johnson.

Shoot, I'd be excited to look 40 again. ;D I haven't went thru a winter without a beard for nearly 40 years. Went 25 plus with a beard year around. I thought about trying bare-faced this year, but the first few cooler days changed my mind in a hurry. My user name pretty much describes it.

Started mine in 1980 and my cheeks haven't seen the sun since. :o Well my chin certainly hasn't anyway. I'd be afraid to see what I'd look like without it.
-
Every ice season ;D
-
Started growing my for Movember, but I think I'm going to keep it for the ice season...much to my wife's dismay.
-
beards always get to itchy for me after a couple of weeks.
Besides I am not allowed to have one at work because I may have to wear a respirator sometime. Although it has been a few years since I have had to.
We had a guy working here at one time who had never shaved his Moustache in his life and he was in his forties.
It hung below his belt. He always kept it rolled up and secured with hairspray. He worked in our central toolroom the running joke was that while testing a drill someday he would get it all wrapped up. Probably a scary thought for him.
I am debating buying one of these beardo hats though. Just so I fit in with you guys.

I think for locks of love it has to be 14 inches long, have done that a couple of times myself.

Have kept fur on my face every winter since I could, sometimes unkempt and grizzly other times closer and neat. It is much better under a mask though with it closer to the face IMO

I grow one every year in the winter since the late 60's or early 70's. I start around my birthday in late August and shave sometime in the spring. Some years I trim it, some years I don't. This year I think Ill let it go. Might keep it and let it go for a few years like those guys on the Duck Dynisty...
-
Grew one last year soley for ice fishing warmth . well i jinxed myself as it was a very warm winter . This year no beard ( so far ) will see how cold the next few months are ? Not that i am supersticious .( keeping my fingers crossed ) Plus I AM begining to look like my grandfather as i remember . lots of gray .

I think the wife is getting tired of the seasonal changes to my face. Sucks to be her. Safty first!!
-
I have not shaved since getting out of the service back in 82. While it does get bushy it never has grown long (maybe because the stuff on top is falling out faster than it grows :%$#!:) So for the most part anymore I keep it trimmed up + fairly short

I wish I could look 40 again.....
-
Started my beard in August... "1978" 24/7/365 ever since.
-
Here's my ~3 month beard at a party. The water theme meant a fly-fishing vest and hip boots were necessary.

Yes the winter beard is growing, it's longer than in the picture. That was started in No Shave November...
