Nothing is written in stone yet,
Looking for a place with safe ice
And easy access , with plenty of parking.
Also fairly decent fishing😀

Tried to go to bayhaven last night, heard they sold to new owners and wanted to give it a try. Got there at 6:15 and had an 1.5 hr wait and walked out, its good but not that good.

If this next storm lives up to the hype of the weather reports, it will be the knock out punch. Looks like you'll have to settle for a coffee shop M & G Brenda. Time to dig into the tackle box and start thinking spring. :'(

I'm thinking you're right Bob!

These back to back storms are killing me!!
Walking on the ice last weekend, the snow was past my knees,
my traps weren't far apart let me tell ya.

Finally got some snowshoes earlier this winter, but then it warmed up and everything melted so I didn’t get a chance to try them out in deep snow.  Looks like I may get to do that after all!

Anywhere north of route 2 will have plenty of ice. I expect to be ice fishing well into April.

Plus the problem with having a Meet/Greet/Eat at
Bay Havens is they don't accept reservations.
Last I knew, everyone has to be present in your party before they'll seat anyone.(unless the new owners have changed this)

Yeah I think it'd be kinda hard getting a crowd in there without a reservation.
Im open to other ideas for restaurants

What about a BBQ at the State Park once it and the lake opens?

I suggest Roxbury Pond for a meet and greet on the ice. Safe ice won't be a problem and there's plenty of parking. If I had to choose a date I would pick the 24th or 31st to give the fresh snow time to settle.

Franklin County, AKA Ellis Pond, just north of Hanover. Little bit of a trip for  southern members. Very scenic.

Oxford County, just north of Rumford. Also known as Ellis Pond and Silver Lake. White perch, crappie, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, pickerel and brook trout.

I like the idea of the barbecue

I'd probably be in for the park. Anyone who wants to fish in the morning can bring their boat and then bbq later in the day, that's what I would do if we had it there. I'm sure the day use areas would be available in April or May, it's 150 to reserve the covered shelter, 35 for the open area both right on the water. 6 bucks a person to get through the gate.

I'm hoping the wind and cold weather this week will make for a last hurrah next weekend. I haven't been up that far yet on the Maine side but I was thinking about Keezer or Long (near saddleback). There are still some good conditions on winni but I'd like to have more than two traps out.

There are two long ponds near Saddleback. Both are closed to ice fishing. Are you thinking of Long Pond in Belgrade?
