10hrs, 5 Species, & Fog
« on: Jan 09, 2016, 07:41 PM »
Did some research and tried a new lake today.  Started before daylight.  A couple channel cat, two decent bass, a few crappie with one good one, and a handful of small perch and bluegill.  Drilled a ton of holes.  Found one brush pile that the crappie came off.  Foggy as hell this morning.  Nate joined up for awhile but the lake wasn't puttin' out so we tried another spot and landed a few bass each with a couple ok ones.  10hrs on the ice and called it a day.

Great job. Good to see that this cold weather can't keep a warm water fisherman from his obsession.

Pics turned out great -- they were some nice quality bass, for sure.  It was a fun day, even if we didn't get any monsters.
Flags up, gentlemen!!!

Cool.  How big were the crappie & bluegill.  Standing on the ice in the dark completely surrounded by fog was a little eerie this morning.

Probably should have called it quits earlier but I have just-one-more syndrome like a serious gambling problem.  We were thinking the bite was off due the recent weather.  Really had to work for a few decent fish and everything else were rat perch.

Yep!  It's an old wool sweater I have that's thick and warm as hell.  I layer a smartwool shirt and light fleece under it.  Don't like to be cold.  I leave my ice fishing outerwear in a pile in my office and wear the same thing every trip, wash them once at the end of the season.
