11 Mile
« on: Dec 11, 2011, 08:10 PM »
Fished the Mile today. Ice was 10" with 7" of it clear. Slow day of fishing. Only marked eight trout on the Vex all day. Beautiful weather today.

I fished from the south side. I didn't see any open water, not even toward the spillway.

It did seem a bit slow this weekend at 11 Mile, didn't mark near the # of fish we usually do. I'm guessing the full moon and the loud ice may have  had something to do with it. We were on the South Shore as well.

I've read the fish don't hear much of the noise from the ice cracking. After about 2 feet of water the sound would be pretty much gone.

Fished 11 mile 12/16 started at witchers cove and NO FISH! Not on sonar and not on the lines. Drilled several holes and used sidefinder with no results. Went to stohl at 11 oclock with the same results. NO FISH! What are the little black larve hatching and floating into my hole? >:(

I fished Witchers as well Saturday. With the same results. Moved around the island on the east side, then fished the cove. Tried shallow - deep and everywhere in the water column did see what I thought were 2 SMB. Seems 11 Mile is at it's best when it's -25 with 30mph winds. I'll be back a couple more times before the end of the year.

Ice is 14". Only marked four trout and one pike today. They aren't cruising the coves just yet. Most of them have been aggressive when you come across them.
