Wind opened big crack on the west side...
Funniest thing about ice fishing for me is when people who know nothing about ice activities try to warn me about the dangers of the ice...

My guess is in 2 weeks she will be locked up tight but these winds wont allow it right now.... A few cold calm nights is all it will take

Anyone been out recently? Making the 3 hour trek Wednesday morning and staying through Thursday afternoon. PM's more than welcome.  ;)

Yeah. We'll be leaving GR area early Wednesday to avoid it. So far, Saginaw area is showing just a few inches.

Thanks Doeslayer. I've actually never been but going with a guy who has some experience out there. I think...well hope...he knows what he's doing.  ;)

you don't want to be out there while its snowing. Well at least i would not go out there while it's snowing. the snow can change the ice. also make it more difficult to get around .

The most dangerous part is the wind... Calm days arejt as bad but a windy day opens cracks and eats machines

yes and with limited visability from snow is a bad situation. I'm telling this from experience . It can turn into a survival situation.

Well, we aren't going. Due to the weather obviously. And they're already riding a ramp over a crack out there. Nope...not me.

I was hoping to get out Saturday or Sunday. I've never been out there before. If there is a group going out and wouldn't mind someone taking along PM me.

I have all my own gear. I have a pioneer 500 side by side with chains for transport. I load everything on that.

More than likely there will always be a crack to cross...unless your OK fishing in 5fow.  The predicted wind direction this weekend should be interesting.
