i just looked on google maps. doesn't look like there is any bait shops in town for people that were hoping to get bait there... at least not that i know of... and also is there an address for where were all going ? idk exactly were it is....

The launch is right behind stewarts shop in town......bait at crossroads a few min away..........but be careful getting on the lake there because open water at the boat launch......must have bubblers but there is room to get on all around it so it should be all good.

bobcats bait shop is just south of town on route 9 the sunoco off exit 28 just north of town has bait and crossroads off exit 25 has bait

I was thinking about having the gathering right out from the launch. I plan on fishing saturday night in a different spot than moving in closer sunday morning. That will make it nice and easy for everyone to find. prchslyr and I will not go down with out a fight we are gonna make this happen.

yea i relized after i zoomed out that brant lake was near... i fish brant alot and never put 2 and 2 together that the lakes were that close apart...

My buddie has a hard shanty in that area and they rode wheelers out to it from near the launch and they said there is plenty of ice......they will be up there again friday night so i will have them check the ice again but it should be okay for wheelers.

MyHuntingForum had a gettogether on schroon out from the boat launch in the northend and they didn't catch squat, just good for thought, not going to be good I think if it's right tight to the northern launch. $:-\$

we had gone straight accross and ended up in the very deep hole 120 feet +. I think if we stayed close to the boat launch area, we'll do better. And some of us did get some nice lakers and smelt

The smelt were 10 ft thick from 30 to 40 ft down, I think thats why the fishing was slow... Just left of the launch the ice was fine to get machines on.. To the right they have bubblers going.... We were stright across towards the north end of the island about 50 yards from it.. We only got a few lakers but filled a 5gal bucket 1/2 up with smelt... Hope that helps some..

We'll take that advice and stay pretty close to the launch on Schroon.

Sounds a lot better than the action I had out on Brant yesterday. Place is beautiful, but better for a nap than action.

Yeah sticking shallow is a good idea. Not everyone is rigged for 120ft depth.

Everytime I went into my shanty and sat i started falling asleep.

I probably would have been just as well off if I did the same thing. I refused to admit defeat and made a few of those darn things bite. Just took 8 different jigs and 20 something holes to do it.

We're going to be out there eating sausage and whatever else too. Might want to keep Stewarts within reasonable distance. They've got toilets.

I was definitely hoping to set up where we can find that happy medium. Panfish grounds with deep water not far off for the laker guys. Thanks for all your Schroon advice man. I'm clueless with that place.

There is a sharp drop off about 100yards out from the boat launch........caught the biggest smallmouth ive ever caught and a few perch there......left early because the wind horrible. Hope its not windy for u guys.

just a little fyi for you guys no matter how deep the water i wouldn't bother setting tip ups more than 20' below the ice,for some reason on that lake you will catch more lakers at 20' down than fishing the bottom even in the 120' hole,and some of the biggest lakers i'v seen out of that lake were caught in less than 10fow good luck out there guys

I'm definitely going to try and make it saturday, if I don't have to work. I've always had better luck fishing no deeper than 20 ft. down, no matter how much water. All the guys I fish with there do the same.

I know RoundlakeNY was planning on camping out. I wouldn't be able to get up there until after dark Saturday night, but I'll show up and camp out for the night.
