Fishable Spots-Let us Know Here
« on: Dec 09, 2010, 02:41 PM »
Alright guys, Lets all work together here. We all want to get out there as soon as possible, so if you find somewhere that is fish-able (not just locked up, we want to be able to fish ya know) Let everyone know here, that way we can all work together to get out there as soon, and safely, as possible. And do yourself and your fellow hard water addicts a favor...Bring a rope with you.
Tight lines everyone, here's to the dawn of another great season!

Sounds good to me... unfortunately I am down here at UVM with none of my gear, no wheels, and no word of ice...
The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable,
a perpetual series of occasions for hope.

I tried a few holes in a bay on lake arrowhead, I measured about 3" everywhere I went. Still a little skiddish about wondering too far, but she's def freezing!

Had a patient report to me that they saw someone fishing on the Sandbar this morning, 12/10/10.  Anyone wanna own up to it?

The employment of effort, hard work, time, and energy put in locating fish will offend noone.

Official Measure:
Waterbury Reservoir
The good: 2 Inches of Black ice for at least 30 yards out, walkable and strong
The bad: By the looks the shoreline has been freezing but about 30 yards out may have just locked up, I was alone so I didn't dare go out that far and check. Might bring a friend (and a rope and life jacket) and check in a few days...

Well I hit the float bridge for an hour and a half no gills but I did get a northern on the jig rod only about 18"-20" but it was fun ;D. There is 4 to 5 inches of ice even in the middle of the channel. Still holding out for the perch maybe next week good luck to anyone going out.

We may have a issue today but this week it is supposed to be real cold, tuesday's high is 17! Just hope that it doesn't make the ice soft and unsafe!

Colchester pond ice sample. 1 1/2 good ice with about 1" of lesser ice on top. One guy fishing, he said its real slow.

Hey, New to the forums but not new to fishing. I would stay away from St. Alban's bay, its locked up but at the end of the docks there's only about an inch of ice and it isn't supporting any weight.

Great idea bringing a life jacket.....I plan to fish Colchester pond, but will only stay close to shore this time of year.  I will only be in about 2-4 feet of water.

Did Dockside get any pike bait yet?  I may just have to give them a ring.
The closest flag up may be the one that is behind you !

Thanks a lot for the info.  I am planning on going there soon myself.  Not sure about bait.  Big Ben usually checks this forum.  He will probably answer you before to long.

First timer here.  Really like the info, feel I should contribute.  Fished Cedar Lake, 3-5 inches of good ice.  Kind of slow with some lil' bity panfish.  Good to just get out and fish.

Welcome.  How do you do on Cedar Lake?  I have always wanted to check it out, but haven't been that way yet.
