Always tip airplane jigs with a dead minnow or cutbait. They will work for eyes too in smaller sizes. Pike prefer the larger sizes.

You can jig the airplane jigs with a foot to foot and a half sweep and let if fall on  semi-slack line. It will spiral up and spiral down. :)

I think is should work if you use the heavier line. With steel line you won't loose fish but you sacrifice a bit of mobility from your lure and pike see it. If they are finicky go with the p-line but if you have a chance for monsters I would go with the leader for safety. ;)

Go with the fluoro always, steel just costs you fish. I have finicky pike in Colorado but they can be huge, up to 30 pounds. I have landed a 20 pounder this year on 20 pound p - line fluoro. The rig was well back in her mouth and the leader was just barely nicked when I removed it. You just have to play a fish more gently on fluoro, especially near the hole.
Even though I have monsters I still use the fluoro. Have had only one bite off last year and only one bite off this year.

Do any of you guys have a favorite color that you like for the airplane jigs, is it better to have the ones that glow or not?

Fishing is not about life or death, it is much more important than that! And all I have to say is FISH ON baby.
