I'd like to try Huddle Bay.  Any directions to an access would be greatly appreciated.

Use caution, the ice there was taking a beating from the wheeler traffic.  You'll need to get their early too or the lot could be full.

As far as the perch go...I hear it varies like most fishing.

Taking a beating? Ice seemed pretty perfect to me......

Thanks to the guy who towed my quad along with me, my buddy and all our gear off Harris bay on Monday. Never got your name but much appreciated!! Also got some advice to use sea foam in the fuel to help prevent future freeze ups. Any body else have tips to keep the machine running?

"How is the perch fishing around MDB?"

I often jig the grass beds along the east shore off MDB within half a mile of the launch because I'm frequently too lazy to go elsewhere.  MDB perching at its best is almost never as good as places like Huddle, Harris, Vets, etc. and is generally inconsistent.  The MDB perch bite can be hot early but usually goes dead mid-morning but may turn back on late afternoon.

Was a bit of a chore coming off but I have a 2 man shappell and the thing weighs a ton it doesn't take much to make it a rough drag.

Snot, always use non ethanol gas and sea foam is the greatest stuff. Some of that in the tank every once in a while and make sure u always have at least 1/4-1/2 tank of fuel . If there is water in the gas it will be less likely to freeze! Tight lines my friend!!
weekend hooker!

[/tquote]three years ago when we had good late ice buddy and I did well afternoons at MDB we only fished afternoons the last 5 days u could get on the ice' He kept over 200 and me about 100. He had two rods he had custom made and paid over $100 for. If the fish burped next to his lure u could see it!! Hoping we get a late bite again this year

Can anyone give me an update on the ice thickness if any, up by forest bay just south of Hague ? It’d be greatly appreciated. I’m asking for an older friend of mine who doesn’t do the whole computer thing and looking to save him a trip up there if the ice isn’t safe

It'll be good to finally hook up with the trout gang out there.
I'm hoping the kids can stick a few so we can start mixing it up a bit this year.

I found a wad of them yesterday, but the stained water had them acting funny. That zoom is set at the bottom 7 ft.

Anyone fished the NW Bay - anywhere near/just south of Bell Point? curious about the ice - saw some drone footage looked like a fair amount of open water.

seems like trout numbers may be down a touch to me, but the size has more than made up for it.  You notice anything similar?

Not sure that the trout numbers are down as much as the forage is up. Definitely more larger ones around, we caught a lot of 24-27" lakers on the boat last season. Used to be about 1 in 5 keepers, then it was 1 in 3 for a while, last year was close to 50% over 23".

Absolutely seeing very keeper similar ratios to what you've noted.   The fish certainly have been regurgitating a lot of both smelt and ciscos every spot we have fished so far.

From Anthonys nose to silver bay has been open all year with the exception of skimming over a couple times.  The ice north from Rodgers rock to Ti beach is not fishable.  One whack with the spud yesterday and it was through.
