I have asked that question twice. Both times ignored.

Do you guys think the lack of perch weeds in Sawmill Bay might be related to a natural cycle where they die back during the shortest days and then start to grow back as the days get longer?  On my lake (Saratoga) the weeds all but die in early winter but late ice they start to come back and fishing over them at that time is good.

But this doesn't explain why other perch beds on LG are unaffected.
The lack of weeds could be the use of the Asian Clam mats that they use to rid of them. you really got to get out in the 40'
of water area to find some weeds.

Open water at Vets.  Be safe.  Last nights storm took a heavy toll on the ice.  From the barge at the dock to access point is All open water.  100 yards north of Green island has also opened back up.

planning on taking the hike from MDB north on Monday. Any report on conditions from there? If anyone feels gracious enough to pm me a recommendation, I would very much appreciate it. I am not looking to steal secrets or step on anyone's toes, just would like some fellow ice addict advice for LG.  Wish I lived closer to do more recon. It is my type of place and style of fishing. I have gone a couple times and love it. Be safe out there, my pond has rotten ice along shore and at spill way.  I typically fish the Catskills and we have had 6-10' of ice. Went out Thursday night until 11 at 50 degrees! I had to stop fishing because there was so much water on top of the 8" ice that it created a freaking vortex going down the hole that I could not get a good a sonar reading.

Wide open to tounge mountain point to sagamore.   Narrows froze from mouth North to silver bay as far as I can tell. Silver bay to Roger rock wide open

@hairbone I second that, we only marked 3 fish all day.  No takers at MDB today.  Tons of people out fishing today though, most were saying the same thing coming off the ice.

Solid 8-10 inches of ice.  Looks like a good February if things hold.

We had a very productive day today. Landed 15, lost 8-10, and saw many more. It was my first trip back on the King in 3 years. It never disappoints!!!
