This was the best ice we found today. 3" of black stay off any thing with snow on the black ice 1.5"

Spud spud spud. Scary ice indeed :o

I have to give you credit. You wouldn't want to bring any big fish up on the ice with you....h2l

Not to start a big debate but, i have to question the wisdom of continuing to walk out on to ice that is cracking at every step! Keep in mind that if you go in, someone has to come and help you.

Agreed Mike. The king is an awesome fishery but taking
That much of a risk not only to yourself but to the ones that have to rescue you is not worth a limit of 8-9 inch perch at least in my book. So many other ponds/lakes with plenty of ice around that you can still catch plenty of perch in and have the peace of mind doing so. Please stay safe out there!!!

I agree . There was good ice out to about 20' But it was spud and go out to 30. We where trying to get to laker water. not perch. My buddy and I are used to going on skinny black ice. We have Styker suites ,picks throw ropes and spuds. I did not post that to say it was safe ice . 3" of black ice is ok for me but not everyone. I spud twice before I step. With that said be safe out there . MDB only had 1.5" to 2.5" on it Sunday morning.

It was cracking on the way in . Plus I am 295 lbs plus gear. I stopped when it got iffy on the way out.

After seeing how little the ice grew from Saturday am to Sunday am it's going to take a lot more cold than that.

I'll just be glad to get some of the other bays next weekend to spread the crowd out.

I had strangers closing right in on my 12 year old because he lost a nice fish at the hole and yelled about it.
It's perching. No harm in it, but I was a little proud to watch it.  ;D

we need some nights in the low teens and single digits and to not break 32 for at least a week! which usually isnt uncommon for February.
I wouldnt go booking any trips in the next immediate 2 weeks.

Looks on the satellite from today like its been locked up there for a while.   Ice looks to be covered in snow from rogers rock north.
