There's a big section of open water from the jacka$$ in the Jon boat. Unless it gets real cold it'll be pretty obvious the ice isn't safe

I never understood this either, How can these Ice Eaters be legal? The people that are putting these in the Lake Don't own the Lake but the Land that connects to the Lake! How can they alter the Ecosystem with these devices. They should in my mind be Arrested and Charged by DEC, How is this any different Putting these Ice Eaters in and churning up the bottom, Altering the Bottom Structure! Than a Guy that takes a 4 wheeler on State Land and tears up the Hiking Trails! Think about it! The only thing Different is there's water to cover up what the effects of the Ice Eaters is doing and Nobody sees it!

They were throwing a big anchor to break the ice and pulling themselves forward. Granted the ice wasn't very thick but that doesn't help.
Thats just dumb!!!  I'm gonna try to get down and take a look this morning. Hope everybody is smart and safe this weekend.

Especially with how far he had to go. It's at least a mile and a half/ almost 2, until you hit open water.

Ice took a beating by the wind this A.M..  Ice was from sawmill bay along the shoreline up to the north shole.  All of that is gone today.  Half of the narrows opened back up.  Huddle is holding to sweet briar but don't know how thick.  Be careful all

I was lucky enough or unlucky enough to be sent a pic of the ice after they did that...was left scratching my head.

Go big or go home

I checked it out this morning.
I can only imagine how hard it was for that guy to do. He only got about 100 yards out.
I tried spudding out a few yards away in each direction and couldn't get more than 20' off shore. Spud was punching through in a single swing.
Same story with Vets park. 15-20' off shore and had 1" on the tape.
Schroon it is for me tomorrow.  :-\

Not good. I figured the lake would be making ice quicker then that in the iced up locations. Guess I was wrong...

Seems obvious LG isn't safe tomorrow. Question is whether it holds up to the 40 degrees and rain and 15 mph winds next week. All I care about this weekend is cold overnights and nobody going out in a damn jonboat to break up the ice.  >:(

Tried to spud around mdb at 5 this morning.  12 degrees and hardly any ice growth judging by Jamey's report yesterday.

Hard to believe that little snow is insulating the ice but sounds like it is... :'(

If we lose the existing ice we have on there right now, due to this weeks weather, and the wind is horrible I am not so sure we will be getting on LG this winter guys.

Looks like they just recently changed the weather for the worst. 50* wendnesday, rain and winds over 40mph!

I hope they pay attention to where they go out there. I saw them and it looks like they are all on the older ice if anyone ventures much farther I think it will get thin real quick.

Well. Since the cat is out of the bag.
We were fine up to the broken up ice. I checked with a tape and had only 2" beyond that area. Not enough for me.
Bite was tough. Anyone that knows the bay knows we caught bass all day. Really frustrating, but it felt good to be out there.

I checked MDB last night before retiring to the hotel.  Made some more ice.  Shame is spots without snow were 2.5"  anywhere with snow was 1.5".  I'm going to go check again this morning.

If it were all black ice I'd be fishing it now...any spots with snow the spud pushed right through this am, same as last night.  I've never hated an inch of snow more.....

2/5 3:00pm One guy out 250-300 yrds on MDB. All by himself, only one truck in the parking lot. Could see the path of the John boat ice breaker. Not sure how he made it out that far but hoping he is safe.

Few guys out on HB 300yrds. One flip shanty out in the middle,  Id say half way up Assembly Point.

Several guys out WB. Parked along side the road. Looks like a real chore getting the equipment up and over the guard rails.

I have no idea how much ice these guys are on but not enough yet for this fat guy who likes to stay warm and dry.  LOL

Not a chance on the north end.  What ice that did form this week is gone.  2 foot swells on the main lake today.

Anyone that fished huddle today, can you chime in on the ice conditions?
