From what I have seen on Facebook, the bay's are locked up? Some of them anyways...but that was before this wind.

Some of the Bays on east side of lake are starting to form ice.  Long ways to go though.  Need some calm nights with cold temperatures to cap it over.

You guys need to take a look at the temperatures Sunday to wensday night! 4 nights in a row right around 0*. If that won't lock up the bay's then I give up.

I keep an eye and also pull the 3 day history from Noaa that shows the hourly weather recordings for the nearest site to LG.  I agree if that cold doesnt do it....unsubsribe!

I wouldn't unsubscribe yet. Wind will be 12-13 mph on the two coldest days of that stretch, so it won't freeze but will make some progress cooling off. Not sure it's ready, lake was barely frozen this time last year and that was frigid. Maybe in a couple weeks.

agreed.  I'm not holding my breath either, most normal years we don't even get to deep water until the first or second week of February...and this ain't no normal year.

Drove by Harris Bay this morning and it looks locked as far as you can see while driving by. Wouldn't walk on it yet.

I am considering a weekend Ice fishing trip to Lake George this year with my son and nephew. I am up near Lake Ontario. Chaumont Bay.  I've done some research and  looking for places to stay on the lake or close. I've seen the areas to access the lake. Any recommendations. Thank you.

Welcome to Iceshanty TrapperJohn07, Lake George village will be your best bet for finding an open hotel in the winter. I know the Georgian stays open all year as do others. If you plan on making the trip  out this year I would also strongly urge you to look at other near by lakes  because there is a real chance that LG will not freeze this year. Don't get me wrong it can still happen, but having a backup plain is always a good idea.

The Harris Bay ice is a nice surprise. But I don't think it will survive 39 deg on Saturday and 8-14mph NW wind Mon-Wed.  :-\

Harris was actually iced over a week ago and it survived the temps and wind this past week. I've got my fingers crossed.

Water temp was 37F in Diamond Point yesterday, air was 36F; zero ice buildup on the docks or shoreline. Not looking good at this point, they keeping raising the temps in the forecast, another warm up coming after next weekend.

Try Priceline or some of the other Hotel sites. A buddy of mine got pretty good deals on rooms right in LG Village last year.

Warner Bay, all 5 feet deep of it, has been frozen, and I think someone thinks it is Harris Bay. Just a guess?

By the look of their webcam, Harris looks locked up.

How many people here take there boats out this time of year? I just pick up a 20' bowrider this past summer and I am really itching to take it out to LG next weekend. I would need to get the park commission registration. From what I've read I think it's $30 for a yr. That correct?
