Do any of you guys use that ion Electric auger? I watched it cut through 7-8 inches of ice like butter over a month ago but just curious how it handles double that amount of ice. For $500 it sure is a hell of a lot lighter than any power auger and would definitely consider  a purchase if it holds up for a full day on the king.

I bought the ION this year and it is the best investment I have made for ice fishing besides my sonar.  I have cut through ice anywhere from 3"-20" and have never had a single issue.  It is half the weight of a gas\propane auger and cuts like butter (no chipper blades).  I keep my battery in small lunch bag when I'm not using it and have never even used half the battery life this season.  I was skeptical about electric when I bought this but I can honestly say it is a no brainer...Once you use an electric you will throw your gas\propane out immediately!! :)

I have the strikemaster lithuim lazer and you don't even have to worry about the cold with it. , the cold does not effect the battery noticeably.  Blade design is 10x better than the ION too.   to bad there's a recall on mine ::)

I've seen.  I may grab one as I have another 8" nils spoon and powerhead sitting as a backup.

krajon that sucks did the tail gate get bent kind looks it form picture. That's two strikes I would not go back.

Yeah it bent the hell out of it. Few dents on the truck as well but the tailgate and ramps took most of the hit. and Yeah I think cotton has it out for me. I went a bit north today. Overpacked and cracked the heater handle but nothing major lol. I have great luck. Just not with fish. Only kept 6 perch and 1 pan. Looks like I need to invest in a flasher!!    (redhead with DD's pm to apply :p)

20v dewalt and clam auger with 6" lazer is great

I second that. Ive got a cheap Home Depot drill on a 6" Finn-bore with a home made bit (about as straight as elton john) but still works great! Just remember to add a safety device so it doesn't find its way to the lake bed!

And your only out $130, instead of $500.
easily drills a days worth of holes on a good battery. (spares are cheap as well)

I'm sure the ion works great, I made my choice on the 20v lithium dewalt and the clam drill plate so I have an awesome drill and auger for under $220 ( I had the 6" lazer auger) I got 13 holes on first battery last weekend and have never gone through the second battery,  AND I leave it outside all day

Here's another vote for the Dewalt Cordless. Down home I use it with a 6" Finn Bore auger and it burns through ice with ease. Cut at least 20 holes yesterday through 18" of ice with the same battery with power to spare and it weighs next to nothing! Upstate however I'll stick to my trusty Strikemaster Lazer Mag Express 8" and Eskimo Shark 10"  Both have served me very well, no reason to switch as I haul them around with machines on racks anyway. The Ion units are Impressive and also work very well. Two of my friends have them and are very pleased with them!

Anyone use the k-drill with the milwaukie 18v? Looking to pick up a 6" rather then the 8" attachment. Should cut more holes on a single battery charge.

Last two I caught were in 32 fow and 55.  They can be anywhere, it depends on where the bait is I suppose.

the title of this thread is Lake George BS and since lake george is covered in ice right now, i think ice auger talk is covered under said title.

that aside, the lakers are kind of all over the place right now.    Your going to have some up shallow raiding the perch beds, some staging just off the perch beds, some out in the deep troughs, and there's still fish to be found on the mid-depth flats.    Best thing for lake trout this time of year is to keep an open mind, and keep searching till you locate the action you are looking for.

Bubblers at huddle are taxing. Cracked like crazy when I was leaving today. A LOT more water on top of the ice as well. Love that its getting warmer but damn. OK day on the ice though. 25ish keepers(ish, dome dinkiest made it in early on) but no flags. Getting slushy for ATVs. Better have 4wd!

Pissed off this little guy as well.
