RI Ice fishing Regs question

(1/2) > >>

jeepsw1:
I am a Mass resident, and considering fishng wallum this year.  We must follow RI regs for this lake, but a search of your DEM website still left me wondering.

How many lines? Can you have more than 1 hook on a line if it is designed to take 1 fish at a time? (Jigs with mutliple trebles), (Quick strike rigs)

any other info you can pass along would be helpful

thanks

Imissedem:
To answer your question 5 tilts.I could be wrong on this one but i think trebles are illegal through the ice.You may want to try watermans also/ has some decent pike especially early in the season. Also i do not use trebles ice fishing anyway because i am a believer in giving the fish a chance and also the challange.

rules for ice fishing is one hook per line, that includes treble hooks, it is called one hook, because it is one eye on it to tie the line too.  what you can't do it tie 2 or three treble hooks at different spots on the line and bait each one. even thoough a treble hook has "3" hooks it is attached to one eye mean ing it is one hook. (for example if you couldn't use trble hooks then you could use sweedish pimple jigs) hope that helps.  I live in Maine and we have the single hook rule too and it means what I said above but I lived in RI for 18 years.  hope it helps..   if you folow this link it talks about some ponds allowing 6 lines.  http://www.dem.ri.gov/pubs/regs/regs/fishwild/fish0809.pdf
