OK you young kids!I turned 83 the day before Christmas after I had triple by pass surgery Aug. 2! I feel very blessed to be on here! I thank God for putting those talented medical people in my corner and allowing me a few more years to drill a few more holes. I believe I first got on Shanty some time in the 90's??We had a lot of fun back then, exchanging lies, trading flies, and meeting good people.Hope to run into some of you on the ice, if we get any!TeachTeach i had the pleasure of meeting you a couple winters ago in the parking lot of the slough, and i remember thinking i can only hope and dream of drilling holes in my 80s. Sorry to hear about your triple bypass but sounds successfull hope you nothing but the best and may you drill holes into your 90s and beyond, at half your age exactly, 41 1/2 i dont see it in my future. Been roofing and construction for 21 years unless they make a walker with a built in power auger ive probably only got till 65 lol. You old farts give me hope and may this season bless yall with plenty of fish and opportunity!!
I'm kinda an oldie. Joined back in 2009 when I still ice fished a little. Turned 69 this past September. I never posted much cause I got harrassed for not posting pictures of a pretty good day we had on a local lake. (never got any good at pictures) I still tune in about every day to check on the chatter. I did go to the basement yesterday and made sure the old Zercom battery was charged up. Having some surgery at the end of the month, but who knows, might make it out for a trip or 2.
who me?
Not sure you make the cut… qualification includes: Two visits to the crapper before your first fish. Carharts for a float suit.3” of solid ice before the first trip. Two schooleys in the bucket at all times. Thermos of coffee, and enough snacks for everybody within earshot. Google earth is… line up the tower, with those three pine trees, just past the sycamore tree. At least one “when I was your age”. The trip is as important as catching fish. Five secret jigs that you’d show anybody that asks (or even if you don’t ask). What did I miss? Haha
Holy cow! I thought you were talking about me till I got to the thermos of coffee! Then I knew I was out. Still use the Schooleys, use trees for landmarks, and carharts. Some of use will never change. I do admire the guys that are pushing 80s that still get out. You guys rock! Good luck to everyone this season.

Is Friends Of Fishing having tourney this year???Just so you know, I still use Schooley reels with the 5' rods, Tried all the others but like the light weight! Still pulling the Big Red Box with Coleman lantern inside. Did buy a Floating Suit and have battery run auger. Hope to see you on the ice!!!Teach
it's been a long while in seeing some of you gent's on here tom, Andy, Marc, Doug, teach, it's a good day any time I run into you guys. Tide what's up did I kick your dog lol
Heck, anybody on ice over 60 is impressive IMO. Ice fishing wears you out sitting still. I work out 5 times a week so I can run and gun… however, Father Time is catching up with me too. I use to be able to spell my name in the snow five feet away, now I can barely get my foot out of the way.Take 1/4 Viagra before coffeeIt'll help w/ distance issueAs to spelling da name, that's all in da wrist
