Title: kokanee
Post by: TroutFishingBear on Oct 29, 2005, 03:46 PM
we have a lake with quite a few kokanee here. The best areas are the main lake basin from anywhere from 20-100 ft in depths. they generally suspend and are in schools. Good lures are small spoons that tipped with salmon eggs of different colors, among others. Kokanee are good eaters.

They are quite hard to find at Blue Mesa and 11 mile as well. I think Dillon has the best kokanee fishing through the ice here, at the Snake River inlet at first ice. They are all small however. A 12 incher is a trophy and Dillon doesn't have a huge population of kokanee, they are just easier to find.
Shadow mountain Reservoir can be good for kokes I have heard.
