I am going to scout Wilson's after work today and maybe one more spot. If there is at least 3 inches out there I am calling out Friday.

Suppose to hang around 32 degrees today and go down to the low 20's overnight. Thursday is forecast to be colder than today.

Just sayin...

Wilson's had 3" solid black at 5 PM. Below freezing for the next 24 hours forecast.

I would love to play hooky Friday, but I just gave my boss notice and she is on the warpath/I'm on her s%$ list. I think I'm going to brave Saturday morning in the friggin rain.

Also keep trying to remind myself its a bonus to have ice in RI before New Years. That being said, its good to take advantage of it

This is also how i feel. I just want to make sure my day off is justified with good fishing and good.company. To late for a notice.... to call out or not to call out tomorrow. Lol

I checked spring grove pond yesterday before work and there was close to 3 inches about 20 feet off the beach. Not sure how the other side of the pond is that's shallower. With that being said it looked like there had been some activity on the ice on the southern end of the pond.

Here is what I found this morning at a local body of water not in northern RI per say. 3" solid black at about 10 feet out. Sad that it will all be gone after the weekend.

So...Final was 6 flags 3 fish...Larry, Perch, and slime dart...awesome for a Friday in December..Before Christmas...that being said. I have never been on noisier ice in my Life

I have to work today but maybe Wakefield pond but be careful the sun and the warm temps could have done a lot of damage yesterday and last night. Wakefield pond was between 4-5 inches of black ice early yesterday morning.

Thanks for the info fellas. Ended up hitting a sure spot not far away and managed a few trout and bluegills. Still about 6 inches of solid black. Best part of the trip was being able to spend a few hours fishing with my 2 year old, father and great friend.
