Pachaug ice report
« on: Jan 05, 2009, 04:10 PM »
After work today I drove over to Pachaug and took the old spud bar out of the trunk. I found 3 or so inches of ice near the shore, but the ice was very grey, ridged and swirled...it didn't look like the strongest ice, but Pachaug usually seems to freeze wierd. I had dress clothes on and nothing to change into so I didn't try walking out onto it. The ice made kind of a falling sound when I spudded through, and water did not fill the hole I'd made.  I might risk fishing it this weekend if we get snow instead of rain on Wednesday, but only with safety gear and company.   :-\
Pike fishing is a like a cruel mistress that is too beautiful to leave.
