Chipper-dipper guard: In search of clever ideas
« on: Jan 02, 2017, 11:30 AM »
I really like the convenience of a metal scoop/skimmer with a mini spud on the opposite end but I'm guessing I'm not alone in my inability to keep the slip-on chisel guard from disappearing on the very first outing with a new one.  >:(  I'm hopeful that someday I'll land a fish and find all of my missing chisel guards in its stomach but in the meantime...have any of you clever folks come up with ideas to make a chisel and guard marriage last?

Drill hole in skimmer ...drill hole in plastic/rubber guard ...tie together using a looped bungee .
Give a man a fish he eats for a day .Teach a man to ice fish he has an obsession for a lifetime

The problem is I've yet to see a guard with enough extra length or play to drill a hole, add a cord, and stay on.
