went out to copper harbor today (17th), ice is finally froze to porters island but only 1 1/2" thick. should be another week or so with cold nights in the forecast. fishing is still decent in the early part of day on lake fanny hooe for splake and occasional walleye. there were two guys setting up for walleye fishing right in the middle of the lake as we were leaving in afternoon. they come back out to shanties around 7 in evening and fish till 10 - 11 of so. they said they get all the walleye they want.
