I havent used one in 2 years. I don't even take one along. After I drill the hole I kick the slush out from around it and then push the auger down and back up. All the slush goes out of the hole.

Good ole Chipper Dipper.  Nice and heavy enought to beat chunks of ice off of everything
Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day.  But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.

I have one of those but I use this one.

The cotter pin in the middle is because the adjustment on it wouldn't ever work right and I thought I would loose part of it down the hole so I drilled a hole through and put the pin in.

Buddy of mine uses that dipper. Bend it out so its angled out instead of nearly 90º, it works a heck of a lot better.

A cheapo orange plastic/aluminum hook for $2.50.  Broke plenty of expensive ones over the years, but I can't kill this one for some reason.

I do want one of those "Little Dippers" though.

I use the big Frabill and I love that thing. I like the long handle, big scoop and ruler on the handle. Good for gauging ice thickness too. I've thumped it on my boot and other hard objects to clear out the holes without any issues. One tough scoop!

mealworm, you just have to take a day off Ice fishing and get that chipper put on. 15 Years and no time? All I can say is WOW.
