Clam Drill Auger Conversion Kit - Out of stock EVERYWHERE!

Reading these posts and watching the videos have sold me on getting a Clam Drill Auger. My 10" Model 30 Jiffy seems to have gotten heavier over the past 10 years and it's time to get something lighter.

Does anyone have a lead on where I can get one? They seem to be out of stock everywhere.

Also, I have a 10" Jiffy so I will be needing a new bit too. Any recommendations on a good return for investment? It looks like Clam is selling a hand auger bit, am I reading that right?

Looks like Dick's online still has the plate, $70 with free shipping. when i bought mine last year i used an email coupon and rewards points to bring the price down further.

It's not cheap though and you may be better off puting something together yourself,

Should be good to go unless you wanted the clam extension. If your not drilling through ice over ~14”, it’s not a necessity. It’s good if you like options though.

Looks good, just remember to keep the drill on drill setting on the lowest speed.

I took it out for the first time today and I was blown away! It punched through 12" of ice in about 5 seconds and it felt like the auger was pulling me down with it rather than requiring downward force like my old Jiffy.

I also added the trigger modification recommended by defiant1. Shaweet!

Anyone else find a place that still has these in stock?  Just heard back from Scheels (they showed some in stock) and they are cancelling my order and refunding me.  Looking high and low and it still seems no one has any?

That would be me. For 20 bucks you can make one. It works great.
 But I took mine off the plate and just use the drill now. Easier to carry around.

So you no longer  use the plate? I tried my drill w/o one and a wrist injury seemed like a real possibility.

I have a Dewalt drill as well. I could not find an torque rating for it. My batt is just 1.2 A-H so I'm not sure it's worth the bother to make a plate or the expensive of buying one if an were avail

Wrist twist is possible with all drills. If you have the Aux Handle on your drill it is a lot safer that way. Just before going through the hole is where it occurs and if you are prepared for it it isn't hard to handle. Also drilling at an angle will cause this also. Put a level on your drill so you know you are drilling  straight.  1.2 Ah isn't going to drill but a few holes. 4 ah is recommended.
