Something hot for the cold
« on: Nov 15, 2014, 04:45 PM »
It starting to get colder around my neck of the woods and time for some hot chili to fight it off... I never follow a recipe for chili but its always pretty close to the same. This is what went into todays batch...

2 pounds 80/20 ground chuck
1 pound of top round cut into small cubes
2 medium sweet onions
5 jalapenos diced, seeds, ribs and all
5 habaneros  diced, seeds, ribs and all
2 big pablanos diced, seeds, ribs and all
5 cloves of garlic
1 big can of diced tomato
1 can of red beans
1 can of kidney beans
1 bottle of dark beer
palmfull of hot Mexican chili powder
palmfull of cuman
couple shots of local maple syrup
Everything in the crock pot for the day.... I like it with a pile of cheddar and some ritz crackers... I'm sweating already

Dude, I need a bowl of that! I can taste it now. Love those habbies..... nice. I'm pretty broken as far as hot goes, probably about "medium" for me.

To fish or not to fish? That's a stupid question!

Holy cow.  The fumes of that would keep hut plenty warm.
Big fan of spicy.  But that sounds a-little much for me

Nice!  Like the measurements - palm full of this palm full of that.  My kind of cooking.  Drives my wife crazy.
Single digits here - I'm stealing your recipe if you don't mind.

Have at it, and I must admit the palmfull measurements come from Rachael Ray... Learned a lot about cooking from watching that cutie...
