Hub house accessories
« on: Jan 27, 2024, 08:54 PM »
Who as added any of the commercial brand hub accessories to their hub shacks? I am just tinkering here and wondering if anybody has come up with a universal solution that would work for all three brands (Clam, Rapala, Eskimo, Catch Cover) The only thing I can come up with is mounting the Eskimo and Rapala accessory mounts onto the Clamlock pucks and just rolling with the clamlock pucks on all four hubs in my Otter shack.
NOTE: Rapala and Catch Cover accessories do not play very well with hub shacks. (They are designed more for the wheelhouse or permanent mounting)

Only hack I have seen ...use a reusable zip tie to swap out between hubs and flip

https://www.amazon.com/Releasable-Reusable-Tensile-Strength-Multi-Purpose/dp/B08GR496P3/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=reusable%2Bzip%2Bties&qid=1706454238&sr=8-5&th=1

I tried that. It was ok and held for the day, but  I am talking about like an interchangeable option. Like something you could switch between the different brands accessories. Currently, I have a couple of the Eskimo bases and one of the Rapala bases mounted on the female side of the Clamlock puck.

I really dont see a one size fits all ...even on FB folks with 3D printers have yet to have that solution . I am not quite sold on the E hub or Clam hub accessories..here are the hub solutions I deploy .

I like these for a hub shelf

and the Clam hooks in conjunction with a clamp on rattle reel ...I like hooks as they keep it in the corner keeping the hole out of harms way for accidental drops into them. I may remove the clamp from the rattle wheel and just thread it onto the Clam hook.

I hear you on the accessories being a bit unflattering. I have a couple of the rod holder/tip-downs from catch cover and Eskimo. I've got a clam shelf, Rapala cup holder and work station. I was just trying to figure out something that would work for all if I wanted to move stuff around. I have one of those Plano trunks I've been modding a bit. I had one of the Clam consoles for the flipovers laying around so I cut that rounded lip off so it sits flush on the lid of the trunk. I also added a bump ruler on the lid of that along with some other stuff. I am think about mounting board ato the Clam locks so I can put maybe a one of each of these hub acc. bases on that just so I can add or remove the acc. if I want. Just tinkering around with what I have on hand to make it work for me.

I was told by the Eskimo rep at the ice fishing show that the Eskimo hub system will work on other hubs.

They do, but I was just trying to figure out something interchangeable between the different brands.  If I want to swap out a Rapala accessory or say an Eskimo accessory, I can do that now while having one base mounted to the hub of my shack. I already had one or two different accessories from each brand so this simplifies things a bit for me and makes them all interchangeable on the hub mounts.
