Seen someone asked the same question on Sask Ice Fishing Fanatics. Cory Leiman is his name and is owner at Tobin Lake Guide Services. Sounds like people are happy with his rods!

so he sells "tuned up custom rods"  or makes his own custom rods?  tuned up customs is a company out of the states that makes some great looking rods but a guy gets dinged so hard with shipping and duties that i'd like to buy somewhat local if possible.  cabelas.com just had some on sale but sold out quick and even then the extra fees made it a tad exorbitant.  have some family in minnesota and may just get them to buy and bring up next time they come.

Not a 100 percent sure but I think pokeys sells them. Seen them in a pic in one of their Facebook posts.

pokeys carries them but are having trouble getting them in because tuned up also just signed a contract with scheels. check there website they aren't terribly priced it depends how fancy you get its not much more buying from the states versus pokeys.

been meaning to purchase some new rods myself. is it worth buying what the so called pros use on tv. or is a quality reel and quality line the better option. i've never had a $30 decent walleye rod break on a fish.or not detect bites. what's everyone's opinion.

I like to spend more money on the rod then cheap out on the reel, I ordered a 34" JT blackout last year, absolutely love it!

Are the custom rods using even better carbon blanks than those in mass-produced St. Croix Mojo ice fishing rods (~$60)?

i just think it's crazy to spend $60-70 on a decent made in china rod when you can support small business and get a cadillac for an extra couple bucks.  spent $60 on a tickle stick last year and i like it but it's not without it's flaws.  also agree that if i had to cheap out on something it would probably be the reel.

i couldn't find anything on pokeys website about tucr's but have a buddy in regina i'll see if he can stop in and spend some money for me  ;D

Been looking at tucr on their web page nothing under $100 American. So I’m gonna ask another question if I were to purchase a $150 cdn rod what benefits am I gonna get from it that I’m not getting already. I have a couple 27”fenwicks that are med/light with great action on the top and it really loads up nice. Not trying to be smart or anything just need some factual insight. Thx.

I bought a haat rod . Species specific designed rod.  Eric haataja has a small company with second to none warranty on the rods.  Even wrote a hand written thank you note for supporting smal businesses.  These rods are pimp! Check him out on facebook and instagram its all he uses to haul in massive steelhead and brown trout.  I am really happy with the rod!!

I read a bit. St. Croix premier $30 is entry level carbon rod. Fenwick elite $45 and st. Croix mojo $65 are intermediate level and probably the best mass produced ice rods made in china and mexico. Then comes the custom rods at the top level, which are designed for each big trophy species.

thx toonfisher. been reading also and made up my mind on a few more fenwicks elites as i have had no problems and great experiences with them. save the extra couple hundred and put it towards a new digital flasher. just cant grasp what the game changer is on these high end rods.  :)

Like klem, I'm very happy with Fenwick Elite Tech 24"ML and St. Croix Rojo 32"M rods. I bought them because they look and feel pretty good at Fishin'Hole. They are better than my many cheaper rods, especially for feeling up-lifting strikes with gloves on. I wish to see a few display samples of custom rods in the locked reel cabinet.

if i could still get the black and gold fenwick elite techs that's all i'd ever buy.  as far as the custom benefits go i can't really speak to that as it would be my first one, but i love spending money on ice fishing gear so why not.
