A lot of salmon and rainbows.     The salmon are the ones the guys think are browns.   Lol.          Camp ground right there.

I lost another bow spit the hook at the hole. The 2nd bow that i caught, had to be one of the coolest things I've seen. Now, I've had fish hit when i was setting a tipup or setting it down on the ice....but not this! I had the tipup in me left hand, I watched the bait descend,  and when it was a foot under the ice I saw a flash and it disappear at the same time...as i was confused for a split second, I looked at my left hand and watched the reel start screaming. After that, all I wanted to do was land it at that point.  Lol

Tip ups, but I don't use any weight for trout or salmon.  I want it to feel as natural as possible. You can jig up smelt and an occasional decent perch.

I never use weight on my tip ups no matter what I'm fishing for.. seems pointless to me. The less hardware you put in front of the fish, the better.

I tend to use medium shiners mostly when targeting trout and salmon, it's just a great all around bait. Buckeyes are real good too cause they look a lot like a smelt but they die much easier.. tough to put on thr hook. Blue nose are awesome, super lively.. wild caught typically.. but they are famous line tanglers.. if you use them, make your leader real long and just have that under the ice.. if you get the main line under there with your leader line those things will make a tangled mess
