Shelburne Pond
« on: Dec 14, 2017, 06:35 AM »
Hi All,

Shelburne Pond was locked up yesterday when I drove by! Not sure how thick the ice was, but given we were out on it in a boat on Monday, I'm assuming there isn't much! These next few days should help though.

Ever since the die off it hasn't been the same. Use to be some of the best pike fishing in the Champlain Valley.

I caught quite a few small pike in the spring and early summer.   I also saw quite a few floating belly up, which seemed to be the bigger ones.

The pond needs some serious attention- finding and stopping the sources of runoff that are killing it, and eventually, restocking some of what used to be there, like walleyes.
May the fish be with you.

Walleye's?  No crap.  I'll try it at least once this season for pike.  the area to the right of the launch looks like a good spot

There used to be a lot of walleyes in Shelburne Pond, right up until the 80s.

There are a lot of pike in there, but I haven't seen them very big recently. There are a lot of perch, pumpkinseeds and crappie in there though
May the fish be with you.
