Not in central NJ. Went for a ride and saw some skim ice. With the rise in temp next week we will have to wait for another cold snap.

Weaver - Did you look at Davidson's Mill Pond in South Brunswick yet?
Now is the time for all good men and women to engage in the sport of ice fishing

Go North go higher and you will have some ice.

Probably will be only weekend to fish before new year.

Wouldnt trust Farrington at all, but will be out this weekend somewhere more North.

Budd, Cranberry, Hopatcong, Muscetong all had ice -- how much of it safe is a different story.

Will report come Saturday and Sunday.

Be safe -- spud spud and spud all the way and if you do venture out please do so with a friend.

I drove by Davidson Mill also and it looks like just skim ice. Of course the falls are open. On the plus side there was snow on the ice so that is a few days ago.

I got out. Got a huge 4-5 lb large mouth, a pickerel and a bunch of perch. All set free to fight another day. Be careful out there, where I was had only 2 to 2-1/2". When I arrived the Russians were already set up so I said f it. Good enough for them good enough for me.

Budd was fishable on Saturday and Sunday but I wouldn't call it a safe ice.

Hopatcong had some ice in coves but shoreline was thin as paper so it was a pain to get on.

Cranberry had ice in a cove but not fishable ice at all

Went 2 for 6 on Saturday and Zero for 1 on Sunday.

I fished Budd on Monday and had to get off around noon because it was getting too soft. The snow melted and the ice started to honeycomb fast.

Dangerously cold temperatures ahead for the next few days.  I cheer every time the weatherman says that on TV. Ice ice baby. Can't wait.

I'm starting to get stoked. Going to start tuning up my gear tomorrow. Let the temperature drop to single digits.

Checked out a few smaller lakes in cnj yesterday afternoon.  3" in the coves, going once the sun comes up.  Only fishing 3-4ft of water...with a buddy.  Good luck to all this season.
