Ice shanty retrofit
« on: Dec 10, 2017, 03:52 PM »
I found a pop up camper on craigslist for $125.The trailer frame is solid and all the lights work in tow. Someone had made it into a shanty before. The end walls were made of osb chip board and were rotten.I ripped all that out. I have a friend that installs garage doors. He saved me 16 panels from a tear out. I used the insulated panels for the walls. The only thing left to do is to install the wood stove, vent pipe and a shelf for a cook stove. Then I am waiting for 10 inches of ice. The walls are light but camper frame and roof is not. I am pleased with the progress I have 12 hours of labor in it so far.

Looks good Wayne, nice job on the "Royale" you'll be stylin! Looks comfy
May God bless and keep you always, may your wishes all come true.
May you always do for others and let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung,
May your hands always be busy, may your feet always be swift.
May you have a strong foundation when the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful, may your songs always be sung.
May you stay forever young.

I was going to make a wooden floor and use the same panels. I couldn’t pass up this deal, so used them for this.

Classic case of twofootitis....had to have one a "little" bigger and a "little" better.

My friend that bought Jordan's has it now, kind of the same deal as yours, maybe I'll be able to join you this year.
