installing hyfax type runners on a flipover tub
« on: Dec 05, 2017, 05:08 PM »
so after scuffing up my new flipover quite bit after only a partial season, i've decided to install some runners underneath. after spending available funds on a banging power box, i need to cut some costs. is only running two strips give the tub sufficient protection? i believe my sentinel has about 10 runners i could theoretically cover.

also, 1/4" the standard thickness so installation can be countersunk?

Suggest using at least three strips, 1 for the center for the tub sag, also 3/8 thick if you can find it-1/4 is a bit thin for countersinking
Now is the time for all good men and women to engage in the sport of ice fishing

i'd say the different kits i bought are closer to 3/4" x 1". if you measure the holes just right, you'll be able to reverse them after the bottoms wear out. see if you can get the steal siding washers or similar washers that have the rubber inside. this will stop water. also drill your holes smaller than the screws to help with the water problem.

if you want, i can measure some of my kits.

3/8th is probably the biggest i can go. i fit my sentinel into the trunk of my car with the back seats down, and it's already a really tight fit. of course i could take the fabric off to make up for the additional "height" but that's a big PITA. unfortunately amazon is out of both 1/4" and 3/8" UHMW strips. gonna check the local big boxes.

You can try USplastics if all else fails
