Eskimo Hyfax Kit Info Needed
« on: Nov 03, 2017, 07:09 AM »
Anyone have the dimensions for the runners in the Eskimo kit? Got a Sierra thermal on order but won’t ship until end of November so I can’t measure the groove in the sled. I have access now to some uhmw sheet and can get it cut down for me before it goes in the scrap bin, guessing it is 1/2” thick by 1” wide like my frabill runners, but can anyone confirm?

Looks like there are four different kits:

www.geteskimo.com/accessories-ice-fishing

Mills shows a 45.5" shipping length for what looks like the 16465:

and 49.5" for what looks like the 69195:

https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/eskimo-high-speed-tracking-kit/0000000233968?Ntt=eskimo%20tracking

There is an Amazon entry for that one that lists dimensions at 1 x 1 x 1"   :P

Not finding dimensions for the long one (26899).

The product manual also shows another (16499).

Call Ardisam?  800-345-6007  Or chat with them when they get online?  https://www.geteskimo.com/login?ReturnUrl=%2FChat

Hope this helps.  Good luck!

Thanks for the help, just got the Sierra put together over the weekend. Will measure and try a couple different pieces to see what thickness works best. Looks like it would use the same size as the Frabill kit, but only 3 on the Eskimo.

I know this sounds dumb....

I got a hyfax kit for my Sierra. The slides are U shaped like a snowmobile slide, not a solid runner. A big groove.

Here's my stupid question..... what side goes against the tub? It seems if I have the groove side down, the screw heads would be protected but that don't seem right

Usually there is a countersunk hole ...I am guessing your not seeing that .Are they an Eskimo kit...w/o instructions ?

looks like the groove acts as the counter sink

couple tips ...hot bucket of water to soak the tips in ..helps with the bend ...and use a smaller drill then the bolt/screw size.. this will help by keeping it together as you nut/bolt it .

Yep, the groove is used as the counter sink for the screws. If you divde the # of screws by how many strips it'll give you # of screws per strip, then divide length of strip by # of screws that'll give you the spacing of screws along the strip to drill holes.
