well, other then what i previously mentioned, the door got prepped for painting, experimented with window division(more later) and our sisters decided to paint the hole covers with fish and stuff.

finished roof

partway framed for window casing

this was the window we "divided." the third pane had broken so with a very sharp knife and a reciprocating saw, we cut off that pane, but in the process knocked the window too hard and broke another pane. luckily, we had another window that fit the hole laying around

finished framed window

another angle

finished crank window

putin on the wall

not quite done

hoping to get back on thursday for a few hours

the good thing is that we have spent less then $400 so far, and the majority of the main materials have been bought other than insulation. We did not plan on insulating the floor, can anyone tell me the value of that if we put rug on and bank the whole outside? if its really noticable, we can flip it with the telehandler, like for painting, but hoping we dont have to. ???

Worked on it yesterday, got a fair bit done once we started putting on tin. Today the windows took a fair bit of time, because a cord hooked on it and it fell. We were down to our last one that fit(thank goodness the window company messed up and sent 3 identical wrong windows that we just got free then) after we got it there, we ran out of spray foam and tin corner j channel. I'll post pics once I get home

1st wall almost done

second wall almost done

new drill! two of these for $500 on sale for $250. last twice as long and are way more powerful and lighter then our last dewalts.

cuttin' tin

2nd wall inside

4th wall inside, last window in. window casings are not worth it >:(, even when free.

our sisters wanted to help, so they painted fish and such on the hole covers.  they look pretty good :)

first ice on the river! ;D now a guy that we have fished with that has a 16x10 built the same way as ours pulled his out with 16'' last year with a dully diesel, but i don't think i want to take that chance. they said the ice was cracking but it worked. how long do you guys wait before pulling a larger permy on the ice?

thank you. i had a bad experience with falling thru the ice, so i usually wait till everyone else is on. i think that 16-18 plus should work, but ill spend the first while on a bucket to find where i want the shack.

Where there is a will, there is a way. I will most likely be doing the same thing as well. I do own a very primitive tarp towable shanty I have been using the past couple of years and figure that will be what I will use to locate a spot for my permi.

Well logged 24 man-hours yesterday ;D(there were 8 of us working), so we got quite a bit done. ran all the wires, bit of tin, wall and a bit of insulation, attached all 110 plug-in and light boxes, 12 volt wiring, varnished some hole covers, planned some more things(adding outside light, how we want the generator wired in),bugged the dog with a laser pointer, so overall productive time ;D.

some hole covers ;D

start of insulation and wiring

some of the crew(the latest hole covers were by the 2 in the back)

Wiring-decided on 2 switches

bit more insulation

it should be toasty, 4 inch batt with a (reflectix?? or some shiny insulation) layer on top

some of the tin from last time

12v is red, putting up 4 lights

how the insulation came (laser pointer and dog in backround ::) )

did some more work today, finished tin, put in all plugs, got some 12v lights, sealed it up with caulk and spray foam, started insulating roof, and put sealed 1 wall with poly. -21 here now so thank goodness we are in the heated shop. also we need to hurry up so we can go fishing soon
and a question for everyone here, what did you use to put the chimney through the wall safely? (so it doesn't start a fire). thanks
