Led submersible
« on: Dec 26, 2017, 03:19 PM »
Was thinking of buying one of these about how long of a run time do you get on a standard flasher type battery?
Specifically the ones that are selling on Amazon now for $20 -30.
Thanks in advance

a link or better description would help.

you may not need one tho. depends on your lakes you fish. the lakes i fish have plenty of plankton, so a light is not needed. learning to watch for them on your sonar will be key to fish in them.

here's an image of fishing in heavy plankton around 8pm. you can see my dead stick jig holding still near bottom and a red swoosh comes from above it and goes under it and bites the hook. was a nice crappie. all of the blue lines are plankton. the later it gets, the heavier they become. you have to up-size your jig to be able to see it thru them.

does the ad for the light show an amp draw. If so its easy math, a 9ah battery will run 1amp for 9 hours. If its like my led light its about 1/2 amp so 18 hours continious run time.

On Walmart.com today, I see a Quarrow 36-LED in that price range.  I ended up purchasing the 90-LED one.

When I was selecting a light and battery combo, I made a conservative estimate of 60% utilization, because batteries don't yield full output when cold and I don't want to drain a battery to zero.  I was shooting for 8 hours of service.  I called the light manufacturer and they kindly gave me the current draw for each model at the time.  Like willie said, it's easy math.  Here is the chart I used to select my 90-LED light and an 8ah battery:

I have run it 7-8 hours and never run the battery down.

Hope this helps.

IMO
YMMV
