I don't understand why more people don't use Verona Beach. They have a huge lot and it's only a few miles from Lewis.

Wide open again in front of the house. 7 day forecast doesn't look promising for ice making . Might be a while no matter what Trapper says.

oh no don't start trapper ain't saying s--- I will never give another ice report on here  ...buy a spud and a life jacket and go check for yourself

If you have a machine it’s not a big deal but to walk it would be a hike!

I'm with you Trap. I have no problem walking , when it's easy going 2 miles each way on glare is a breeze for this old guy.

Saw a few boats out today between the sheets of skim ice, looked pretty Epic!

The lake would probably lock overnight if it got near zero, it was a lot more skimmed than i expected.

Hey guys I’m new to this forum but we take a trip to Oneida every single year, have always fished sylvan beach / Lewis point area. This year we are venturing off to the other end of the lake , we are staying in brewerton the first weekend of February(hopefully there will be ice!?). My question is how is the eye/perch fishing on that end of lake?  Seems like the whole lake is really just all around good to fish but just looking for some tips or pointers. Thanks , Kyle

The far west end is shallow,. If you're after perch and eyes, best area is from around frenchmens islands east.

My advice is to look at a lake map and pick some bumps, steep drops and fish around those. Keep moving until u find biters. Also stay away from crowds, once an area gets over pressured the fushing drops off.

thanks slamboney  I have the navionics app on my iPhone and have been studying a lot of the lake.  Shackleton shoals looks promising and a lot of the surrounding islands. Good info for staying away from the crowd too.  That’s good to know

I'm guessing the lake skimmed over good last night......11 and no breeze in cicero right now......if that wind tomorrow doesn't destroy it, this should be the start.....

Yep. East end is locked. Now the big question of what 40deg, high winds, rain and snow do between now and Thursday night.
