HT maine trap (windless tipup)

bought one at walmart to see how it works cant even get the flag to go up no matter what i do any tips maybe im doing it wrong

I got rid of my windless tip ups a couple of times in the past, but I always manage to get a few more.

They are a pain to set up, but can be like magic on the right day.

The setting of the flag is critical, otherwise it won't 'trip".

Bend the flag arm so the tip of the flag is set behind the spool.
You want it to trip if any line is pulled out.

the first mistake I made, was having the line come off the spool from the bottom, by doing this the spool turned the wrong way and would not trip the flag. the line has to come off the top of the spool for it to trip the flag
