In search of Walleye
« on: Dec 20, 2019, 11:21 AM »
Guys, I have been ice fishing NW Montana for years but this year goal is to ice a walleye and probably won't do that close to home. Where would you point a newbie walleye fisherman to have half a chance without either a guide or a ATV? Any help would be much appreciated! Hope you all have great holidays!

Lake pend oreille in Idaho has them, might be closer than running to the lakes on the Missouri.

I suggest searching the MTfish tab on the FWP website for fish distribution in the closer lakes. you should be able to find something closer to you.
if you're too busy to go fishing, you're too busy

Head East, go somewhere you can use live minners and run 6 lines. The upper Missouri reservoirs will really humble you if you're in search of walleye through the ice.

Holter get REALLY late ice.  Don't expect anything there for a while.

go east my man.
Fort Peck has great walleye, northern, sm mouth bass, lake trout, cat fish, and decent perch.
Don't really know what's on till you see them.
